INDUSTRIAL VISIT
On
August 11, 2023, the Department of Commerce, St. John's College, Anchal,
organized an industrial visit to the Masco Tea Factory located in Vagamon,
Kerala. The purpose of this visit was to provide students with practical
exposure to the processes and operations involved in the tea manufacturing
industry. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and
real-world application.
About
Masco Tea Factory:
Masco
Tea Factory is a well-known tea processing unit situated in the picturesque
hill station of Vagamon, Kerala. It is renowned for producing high-quality tea,
and the factory is equipped with modern machinery and follows sustainable and
ethical tea production practices.
Highlights
of the Visit:
Guided
Tour: Students were taken through various sections, including the tea
plantations, plucking and harvesting areas, with explanations of the tea
cultivation process.
Tea
Processing: Students witnessed the entire tea processing cycle, from withering
and rolling to fermentation and drying. They gained a deeper understanding of
the intricate steps involved in producing different types of tea, such as
black, green, and white tea.
Quality
Control: The factory staff explained the rigorous quality control measures
employed to ensure the purity and taste of the tea. Students had the
opportunity to observe quality testing and grading procedures.
Machinery
and Technology: The visit also included a close look at the state-of-the-art
machinery and technology used in tea processing. Students learned how
automation has improved efficiency and precision in the industry.
Sustainability
Practices: Masco Tea Factory is committed to sustainable and eco-friendly tea
production. Students were educated about their environmentally conscious
practices, such as organic farming, waste management, and water conservation.
Tea Tasting: The visit concluded with a tea-tasting session. Students had the chance to savour a variety of teas produced at the factory and understand the nuances of aroma and flavour in different tea types.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT B.COM FINANCE
The industrial visit (15th September ,2023) to the
Modern Bread Factory in Edapally, Ernakulam, was organized for the students of
Semester 5, B.Com Finance, from St. John's College, Anchal. The visit aimed to
provide students with practical insights into the operations of a modern food
production facility and to help them connect classroom knowledge with
real-world industrial practices. Additionally, a visit to the Marine Drive in
Ernakulam was organized to provide students with some recreational and leisure
time.
